Our founder, Ichizo Kobayashi, once described TOHO's mission simply: "To widely provide wholesome entertainment to the general public."
It is a modest statement, but it remains the guiding foundation of the TOHO Group today.
For us, it means telling stories that entertain, inspire, and spark curiosity for as many people as possible. Each of us carries a story, a memory, or a moment that stays with us for life. At TOHO, we try to create content that leaves that kind of lasting impression. When we do it well, we believe entertainment has the power to shape culture and create lasting value for society. Today, those stories matter more than ever.
It takes great creativity and close collaboration to bring those stories to life. Even as we approach our 100th anniversary, we remain committed to that challenge. Under our long-term vision, TOHO VISION 2032, we recognize that anime is a global form of entertainment with a broader and more engaged audience than ever before. In response, we are establishing it as a fourth pillar of our core businesses, alongside film, theater, and real estate.
At the same time, we are accelerating our expansion into global markets. This means strengthening the entire value chain, from IP creation and digital development to co-production with partners. All of this is in service of what we do best: telling diverse, inspiring stories for audiences all over the world.
Our group slogan, "Moments for Life," sits at the heart of these efforts. Whether it is an anime episode, a feature film, an evening at the theater, or a day of shopping, we believe even the briefest encounter can stay with someone for a lifetime, holding meaning long after the moment itself has passed.
In the very moments our work moves and inspires our audiences, we ourselves are moved in return. We think of this as a Circle of Inspiration, one that flows in both directions and runs through every part of the TOHO Group, from film and theater to real estate. It sustains people, families, and cultures, and it sustains us at TOHO as well. Sustaining that circle, I believe, is at the heart of our work. It is, I think, what our founder truly meant when he said: "Whatever joy we know, we owe to the happiness of our audiences."
Today, TOHO's audiences are everywhere. They are in theater seats around the world, in cities and small towns, and in living rooms at home. Wherever they are, we hope to offer them moments worth keeping. And we believe that, gathered together over time, those moments have the power to bring warmth to society and light the way forward.
Across every part of our organization, the TOHO Group moves forward together. We will continue to follow our purpose: "Create moments that move hearts and enrich lives." And, as always, we are guided by our value to "act with vivacity, modesty, fairness and grace."
