President's Message

Sustainability lies at the heart of our entertainment business

The TOHO Group has adopted a new slogan: "Moments for Life." It expresses the idea that a single moment, whether it’s big or small, can become a source of strength for a lifetime. The works, services, spaces, and moments we create move the hearts of our audiences. And in those very moments, our own hearts are stirred in return.

Since our founding, we have carefully kept this Circle of Inspiration turning. Carrying it through our 100th anniversary and beyond is, we believe, what sustainability means for the TOHO Group.

For us, there is no line between pursuing sustainability and running our entertainment business. We want to give people everywhere the joy and inspiration of feeling that life is wonderful, a joy that transcends generations and cultures. We are convinced that this, in itself, is the greatest contribution we can make to society.

Guided by the words of our founder Ichizo Kobayashi—"Act with vivacity, modesty, fairness and grace"—we established the TOHO Group Sustainability Policy.

The TOHO Group is committed to harnessing the power of entertainment—through its values of vivacity, modesty, fairness, and grace—to help build a society where everyone can enjoy rich, full lives.

This policy does not stand apart from our business. It is the foundation of everything we do as we advance TOHO VISION 2032 and TOHO Mid‑Term Plan 2028. Anchored by four material issues that carry that founding spirit into our work today, we will keep moving forward.

Under "Vivacity," we see our people as the true source of our value, and we promote the creation of a healthy work environment where everyone feels valued for their contributions.

Under "Modesty," we work to protect the environment so people can keep enjoying entertainment for generations to come. In practice, that means reducing our carbon emissions, starting with switching TOHO STUDIOS to renewable energy.

Under "Fairness," we respect the human rights of all people and foster a healthy and fair corporate culture where no one is left behind.

Under "Grace," as the company that has kept this Circle of Inspiration alive, we believe we are uniquely capable of carrying its power into the future and giving back to society through film and theater.

We will put our energy into nurturing the future of entertainment itself: providing children with formative cultural experiences, helping creators grow, and passing our culture on to the next generation.

We will keep building the value that only the TOHO Group can create, and work toward sustainable growth together with society.
