TOHO Studios × JERA Decarbonization Initiatives
As the first step in our collaboration with JERA and its subsidiary JERA Cross Inc., both industry leaders in decarbonization, TOHO is advancing decarbonization at TOHO Studios.
Since November 2024, TOHO Studios has sourced its electricity from solar and other renewable energy sources, as well as hydrogen‑fueled thermal power that emits no CO2 during generation—the first such commercial use in Japan—enabling studio operations with virtually no CO2 emissions.*

Renewable Energy Initiatives
Aiming to help realize a decarbonized society, the TOHO Group is actively promoting the use of renewable energy sources that generate no CO2 during power production.
Since September 2022, the electricity used for our real estate business at the TOHO Hibiya and Tokyo Takarazuka Buildings has been switched to renewable sources. In addition, both the TOHO Hibiya Promenade Building (opened in March 2023) and SHIBUYA AXSH (opened in July 2024) are powered entirely by renewable energy.
In addition, as of April 2025, Toho Nangai Building and Shibuya Hikarie are now also powered entirely by renewable energy.

Energy Conservation Initiatives
In parallel with its renewable energy initiatives, the TOHO Group is actively advancing energy conservation measures across its operations. The TOHO Group is gradually switching to LED lighting at its properties. We have completed the transition to LED lighting for nearly 100% of the lighting in our flagship buildings and TOHO Cinemas locations nationwide. At TOHO Cinemas, we are also introducing high‑efficiency laser projectors and the "GrEenM2" system (formerly GeM2), which automatically adjusts temperature and airflow for optimal HVAC performance, to reduce energy consumption.
